Okay, since I'm making a lot of this stuff up as I go along, let's make sure that I don't let things get unbalanced between the two characters, shall we?

Iron Muscles -- accrding to the second paragraph on page 280 of Armageddon, all Primal Powers (unless otherwise specified), require a roll to activate. Iron Muscles does not state otherwise, so normally it'd require a roll. I do remember, however, that I wanted a way to represent races with really tough skin and opted o not require a roll. With 18 armor on all the time, Edge is landing somewhere between Plate Mail and Plate armor. Add the defensive use of Mandhands to that and we see it coming just shy of military grade body armor.

Dustin -- do you feel this is fairly balanced against Pak? Since Edge is looking to be a pretty kick-ass front line fighter, I don't have much of a problem with it.

Also, I notice that Pak purchased channeling. Refresh my memory on what we decided would be fair for essence useage? What does Pak have that requires channeling? I believe I was leaning towards the Primal example when building racial powers, in that the essence required is simply used and no channeling is needed. Edge doesn't seem to have anything that falls outside of that definition, so I'm not sure it'd actually need Channeling, but I would like to see its essence pool listed on the page (if it's there and I missed it, my bad).

Fane -- keep in mind that without channeling, Edge won't be able to divert extra essence to boost it's mindhands ability. Also, what do you see as the role for its System Operations (self) skill? Is this a replacement for the Primal Powers skill?

Also, that Adversary is set at a pretty high level. I'd like to see it bought down over time, and the Vaphal can help with that by negotiating with the factory that still holds clam to all Teardrops. Of course, before they unleash their legal warhounds, they're going to want to see some proof that Edge is actually worth the effort -- hence the use of experience points to do the job.

That's all I can think of for now, but thoughts on maintaining a good gaming structure would certainly be appreciated.

Akimoto Ibuki's tale

One could almost feel sorry for Akimoto Ibuki…almost. His face was in ruins, half of it still burned from Devil Hunter Jones’ o-fuda, the other half festering and decayed from where it had been exposed to sunlight. Cheung’s time in Tokyo had taught him to look beyond surface appearances, and he could see and hear Ibuki’s apprehension, even hidden as it was behind a mask of detachment.

“You bore the shit out of me, Cheung. I’ll tell you what’s up, but only if it means you’ll stop talking.

“Just think of me as…as a salaryman. I’m like a salaryman, except I work for the most powerful corporation in the world. This corporation wants to acquire more assets, and I’m part of the team that’s working to create the right environment for acquisitions. You’re part of the team too. So is everyone at CCC. That’s what CCC is for, actually.

“Can I have a cigarette?”

Okina Fish Cannery

An area map and floorplans for Okina Fish Cannery can be found [http://tiki.devermore.net/tiki-index.php?page=Okina+Fish+Cannery|here].

The area around the cannery is well-lit, but there is something mysteriously bleak about the illumination. As your characters approach the cannery, you notice a group of men gathered in a circle at the northwest corner of the cannery. Their attention is drawn to something going on at the center of their group; they're holding bottles of sake and fistfuls of yen, and yelling in response to what's happening in their midst.

Please post here with any questions, or if you want to find out what's going on with the group of men or do any other investigation of the area outside the cannery.

Introductions, and looking for a good noodle place

So, last we left our heroes, Cheung and Jones were off in a dead yakuza's car with a corpse in the trunk, looking for a good noodle place.

As Cheung navigates the streets of Tokyo, he starts the conversation in Japanese, using a casual friendly tone. "Well, considering the circumstances, some sort of formal introduction
seems in order. I'm David Cheung, a lawyer in good standing and, as you've figured out, a hengeyokai." He glances at Jones in invitation.

"Jones. Christopher Masaki Jones. I am a shih."

Cheung pauses as if waiting for something more, then continues in
the same casual tone, "So, how did you come to know Anna?"

Christopher stares out the window, not speaking, apparently thinking
his words over. "I have known Anna for years. She was my sensei in
certain arts."

"Ah." Cheung considers several responses, some that would guarantee to offend his sword-wielding passenger, then decides silence to be the best choice.

"By the way, I commend you on your restraint. By now, I expected you to be demanding an explanation for what happened back there."

He pauses, weighing his next words before stating them. "I'm not sure how much I could tell you, but I'm willing to answer any questions you may have. As long as you afford me the same courtesy."

Christopher gives a slight shrug. "I see no need to demand. Shen come in many guises and shapes. That was one. Some how it even seems fitting."

TF: Armageddon

From Dustin:
''As far as the Rganarak stuff goes, that might be pretty interesting, actually. I think the actual power level of the group is probably a little shy of a typical Armageddon adventure because of how the PCs actually started out, and the fact that they really weren't built to fight a world war. Still, Armageddon would give us plenty of "headroom" to grow and a steady supply of challenges. I think that if the GM is careful it could work out well. But as I discovered from the Sweden adventure, it is shockingly easy to blow away even powerful PCs with a simply no-tactics using monster. We'll just have to be aware of that, and how aware just how deadly military grade equipment is. I mean, Seraphim thought they were unstoppable. Then they met Mr. Air to Air Missile and suddenly then were dropping out of the skies like rocks. Dead rocks...

I think ideally the Armageddon/Ragnarak style missions would be more covert stuff. Our present crew, even with the addition of Diesel "experienced up" would be toast in an open conflict with a real Adept or even just a small group of their cronies. The reason isn't lack of powers. It's lack of Attributes on par with the bad guys.

I like you adventure ideas, too, with the exception of the Death of Artemis. Not sure how I feel about that one. The others, cool! And, following the idea of Lemurians returning, what about Atlantis Risen! (bad guys try to stop that) or for the bad guys, the Return of Ultima Thule (the good guys try to stop that)?''

This seems like a good place to begin discussions.

I agree that the group should be mostly covert operatives, rather than frontline fighters. We'll be able to give them an XP kicker to beef them up a little as needed, too. We'd be kicking forward about 10-20 years, so even 100 XP or more wouldn't be out of place. (At the rate they currently earn it, 10 years would be over 1000 for Brigid and Cass, but I think we can ignore that :) )

I actually figured that a lot of their missions wouldn't even be strikes against the Cult of Revelations. They'd be delving into the Otherworlds to find lost artifacts that might be able to turn the tide against Leviathan, like the Holy Grail. Of course they'd have some nasty Adept or other chasing after them.

Then there's the death of Artemis... I have a surprise in mind for that, one that will be foreshadowed by events in TF if we keep running it much longer after Lisa's adventures.

It'll be cool. Trust me. :)

Creating an Essence "Battery"

In reading through the rules for Empowerment, it only talks about investing an Invocation into an items. I think that if you can put Essence into an item to power a spell effect and have it regenerate, I don't see why you can't just invest an item with just Essence that can be drawn on and have the pool regenerate.

What do you guys think? It'll regenerate at the same rate (creator's Will per hour), but what about the creation cost? Should it be less than if enchanting with an invocation?

Grand Opening of Blood Tears 2

As a reminder, the maps and descriptions of Blood Tears 2 is on [http://tiki.devermore.net/tiki-index.php?page=BloodTears2|this page].

From what I remember of the discussions from a while ago, here are the things we talked about for the grand opening of the new club:

* hire a band (possibly Rag Doll, but I think DG said they might not be available)
* get caterers
* hire extra staff for security/servers/etc.
* have the hostesses conduct tours of the club (none of the rooms will be available for rent until after a certain time in the evening, including the theme rooms)
* lots and lots of raffles and door prizes
** members (not their guests) each get a single "ticket" to put in to be the first person to rent one of the guest rooms. Other tickets can be purchased to increase their chances for the room of their choice, or for other rooms
** free memberships
** gift certificates for Blood Tears Toys
** gift certificates for stores that sell clothes appropriate for wear at the club
